Abstract

Intramuscular hemangioma represents 1% of all hemangiomas. It affects the muscles of the trunk, neck and eye. It can also affect the heart muscle and be responsible for sudden death (3). Also the localization on the muscle of the limbs, particularly of the forearm was reported (1). It usually presents (2) as a painful tumefaction with blurred borders, without changes of the overlying skin.
The natural course of intramuscular hemangioma is significantly different from that one of infantile cutaneous hemangioma, as shown by its onset usually after the second year of life and by the lack of self-healing tendency. The presence of phleboliths is a characteristic radiographic sign of this disorder.
Surgical removal is the treatment of choice for intramuscular hemangioma.
