Abstract

Loose anagen hair syndrome is a disorder characterized by easily and painless extractable hair, which affects mainly children between the ages of 2 and 6 years. It is believed that a keratinization defect in the inner root sheath of the hairs results in the loosely attached anagen hairs. The patients usually present relatively short, sparse, and uneven hair. Trichogram shows more than 70% of loose anagen hairs. We describe 3 Brazilian patients with loose anagen hair syndrome, and further discuss the etiology, clinical features, trichogram, and prognosis.
