Abstract

A 6-month-old male baby presented with a giant melanocytic nevus with satellite lesions. In spite of the prevailing localization on the posterior midline, the child did not present any neurological symptoms, nor an evident compromission of the central nervous system. The magnetic resonance without contrast medium showed a marked hypotrophy of the gluteal muscles and an abnormal accumulation of fat tissue. The case is discussed with regard to the usage of instrumental investigations during the follow-up.
