Abstract

A 14-year-old black boy had a 8 months history of a distinctive perioral, perinasal and periocular skin lesions consisting of tiny, skin-colored micropapules. There were no associated systemic abnormalities. Histopathological examination showed perifollicular granulomas. The patient was treated with lymecycline, a tetracycline analogue, with excellent results. Granulomatous perioral dermatitis is a variant of perioral dermatitis with granulomatous histologic features, first described in 1970 in black children. In this paper we present a new case of the disease and a review of the current literature.
